Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Maybe you’ve tried surgery for your back pain or herniated disc. Or perhaps you’re seeking to avoid surgery and are looking for a non-invasive therapy to address your cervical and low back pain. Join the hundreds of patients at San Diego Chiropractic Neurology that have already gotten relief, avoided injections and surgeries, and are back on their path to health.

How 3 Common Conditions May Be Helped

Herniated discs:

With this condition, you have the jelly-filled doughnut (the disc or cushion) and through wear and tear and injury, that gel or disc can either fragment or rupture. That disc can enter spaces where the nerves are that it’s not supposed to. The result is that it can cause sharp low back pain, pain in your leg, tingling and numbness.

With non-surgical spinal decompression, we put a patient on the table and specifically target the disc that’s injured. The table gently and safely pulls the discs apart to open up the space between the two bones. This is called a reverse vacuum effect.

Sciatica:

Sciatica is an irritation of the sciatic nerve that could be caused by a disc rupture, bulging disc or disc injury. If the doctor determines—through an exam and tests—that spinal decompression may help, here’s how it works: the spinal decompression table will help pull and create space for that disc through intradiscal pressure, which helps take the disc back into its cavity. By doing that, it takes the pressure off the sciatic nerve.

Spinal stenosis:

With this condition, the holes where the nerves come out of are irritated and inflamed. The cause of the stenosis is compression, stress and inflammation. The table would pull apart, decompress and create less stress in the system, and the decompression would relieve a lot of stress off those nerves, alleviating the symptoms.
